Perspective Is Everything

Over the years as a photographer and business man I've learned to develop relationships. In the process of developing relationships, there have been occasions where I had learning opportunities because of things that I should've and could've done differently. Overall with a high success client rate I always reflect on missed moments even though they are few in comparison. I was reminded today that perspective is everything. Take in the full picture.
One of the biggest eye-openers for me was truly considering every aspect of my service start to finish - but from the client perspective. I've done that before...but not in depth to the point of understanding how my clients may feel and what they may think as a result of those feelings. Especially the ones unmentioned.
A perfect example of this is how I spoke with a potential wedding client today (who I happen to know). In our conversation I was explaining that I finished the new website and I’m ready to consult with him and his fiancé. He browsed it, was highly impressed and I shared that my standards are extremely high for scaling for growth. I explained that sometimes I’m a perfectionist. I can delay and push off things unless or until it's exactly how I want it to be...the way that I want it to be.
After making the comment “I need to give myself a little bit of room for imperfections”...his response was yes you should, but not too much. We both kind of laughed about it, but he was serious. It was a good reminder for me that whether it's on a personal level or a professional level, perspective truly is everything. Especially maintaining the right one.
